Hyatt Dam Modifications project for the Department of Interior – Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) consisted of a seismic retrofit to the downstream face. The work consisted of and zone embankment up the 45’ face, dewatering, toe drains, and a concrete outlet structure. The principal features of this project was removal and control of water from excavation, abandoning existing toe drain pipes, furnishing new toe drain pipes, and furnishing and placing zoned earthfill materials with a sandfilter to reconstruct the dam embankment.
Major Scope Items:
- Massive dewatering system along the length of the dam
- Large new concrete outlet structure
- 20k yards of backfill with multiple different zones of materials
- Extremely tight schedule
